Azerbaijan-Russian Company “AzRusTrans” intends to deliver the goods sent from Finland to Iran within 15 days. Javid Guliyev, General Director of "AzRusTrans", that is the joint venture of “RusAgroTrans” and “Azerbaijan Railways”, stated it in his interview to "Novye Izvestia" (Russian: Новые Известия newspaper. Head of the Company said: “We have conducted successful negotiations with our Finnish partners. The volume of cargo turnover between Iran and Finland and India and Finland amounts to several milliard dollars. Currently, the goods sent from Finland enter Russia over a very tangled way - passing through the territories of all the countries in the Gulf of Finland. 45-50 days, sometimes even two months are spent for this road. Finland will be able to shorten this route 3 times due to our help, that is only 15 days will be spent for the mentioned route. There are some unresolved highlights related to the cost price of the route. Now we are working on these issues – carry out active negotiations with Russian Railways and Azerbaijan Railways. There is absolutely no doubt that the goods sent from Finland will already be delivered on the shortened route in the near future”. Answering the question about the future plans of the joint venture, Javid Guliyev said: “Currently, the Company plans to build a grain terminal in the territory of Iran. The construction of the part of the road connecting Azerbaijan to Iran from the uncompleted 8,3 kilometre has already been finished. Today, "AzRusTrans" company is ready to invest in the construction of the grain terminal. The issue is being dealt with. The mentioned terminal will allow to store 60 000 tons of grain at the same time without any obstacles. Thus, we will reduce the transportation costs approximately 30-40 percent”.
