Russia will harvest over 127 million tons of grain this year - Putin
The grain harvest in Russia this year will amount to about 127 million tons and will cover not only the domestic needs of the country, but also exports, said Russian President Vladimir Putin.
"I think that this year we will not have such a record harvest as in the past, due to a number of circumstances, but we will definitely harvest over 127 million grain. This is a very good indicator that more than meets our domestic needs and even export potential." - Putin said during a meeting on Sunday with representatives of the United Russia party.
He noted that the agricultural economy in Russia is developing at a good pace.
According to the basic forecast of the Ministry of Agriculture, grain harvest this year will amount to 127.4 million tons, including 81 million tons of wheat. In 2020, the harvest amounted to 133.5 million tons, including 85.9 million tons of wheat. Grain exports for this agricultural year (July 2021-June 2022) are estimated at 51 million tons. In the last agricultural year, the Russian Federation exported more than 48 million tons of grain.
